LANDSCAPE MIX

  • Blend of composted mulch fines, compost and sand.

  • This soil is recommended for all landscape plants. We highly recommend you also apply a fertilizer when planting with Landscape Mix.

    We DO NOT recommend using this soil for vegetable beds. Refer to our Heirloom Soils Veggie & Herb Soil.

Premium lawn mix (top soil free, weeds free)

  • Blend of composted mulch fines, compost, sand & expanded shale.

  • Sod prep, leveling & trees.

    This soil is NOT suitable for vegetable beds.

Aged leaf mold compost (bulk & bagged)

  • Finely screened compost. Adds valuable nutrients to flower beds, vegetable gardens and any potted plants. Easily spreads and is beneficial for topdressing any type of turf.

  • Our Aged Leaf Mold Compost is a premium organic product that can be used to be used for loosening up heavy soils, for improving moisture conservation, for improving drainage, for increasing the organic matter content of soils and for creating a favorable growing environment for helpful beneficial microbes.

    Common uses include amending or incorporating into existing soils to the soil structure and other soil quality measures that will lead to better plant performance.

    Another popular use of our compost is as a lawn topdressing. For best results, perform a core aeration during an active grass growing season and then topdress with a 1/2-3/4 inch layer of Leaf Mold Compost.

VEGGIE & HERB sOIL (bulk + bagged. HEIRLOOM SOILS)

  • This soil mix is a custom crafted, multi-purpose edibles blend designed to grow a variety of veggies, herbs and edible flowers. This blend is heavy enough for building raised beds and light enough for planting large pots.

  • Our Veggie & Herb Mix is ideal for building raised beds for veggies, herbs and edible flowers.

    Fertilize with an organic fertilizer such as Microlife Ultimate or an equivalent 8-4-6 fertilizer at the initial rate of 4-5 lb.s per 100 sq.ft. feet of raised bed area per season and then at 2-3 lb.s per 100 sq.ft. of bed area for each subsequent season.

ROSE SOIL (HEIRLOOM SOILS)

  • Our Multi Purpose Rose Soil Mix is specially formulated for roses, azaleas and other acid loving plants. It improves soil for superior buds and blooms. This blend is composed of all natural materials.

  • Our Rose Soil is an extremely high quality soil designed to help roses perform optimally, but it is also truly multi-purpose in nature in terms working well as a premium soil for raised beds where a wide variety of blooming plants such as roses, azaleas, camellias, other blooming shrubs, perennials and seasonal color might be planted.

    This soil can also be used for large pots planted with a wide variety of ornamental plants needing a medium-weight soil. Use the Heirloom Soils The Works Potting Soil for ornamental plants needing a lighter potting soil.

    Fertilization:

    Fertilize each spring and fall with a well balanced organic fertilizer such as Microlife 6-2-4 at the rate of 2-3 lb.s per 100 sq.ft or use Microlife Ultimate for plants with higher plant nutrition needs.

  • This custom soil mix has been specially formulated to grow a wide variety of fruiting plants such as avocados, citrus, berries, pomegranates and much more in raised beds and large containers..

  • Our Fruit, Berry & Citrus Mix is ideal for building raised beds for a wide variety of fruiting plants including apples, pears, avocados, citrus, berries, pomegranates, stone fruit varieties such as peaches, tropical fruits and many more. For best results, plant new fruiting plants in a raised bed made with our Fruit, Berry & Citrus Mix.

    Fertilization:

    First the first year, foliage feed by spraying the underside of the leaves (also drench the root zone) with a non-nitrogen rich liquid fertilizer high in potassium and micronutrients like Microlife’s Super Seaweed at label rates. At the beginning of the second spring in the ground, fertilize with an organic fertilizer such as Microlife Ultimate or an equivalent 8-4-6 fertilizer at the initial rate of 4-5 lb.s per 100 sq.ft. feet of raised bed area. Continue fertilizing at the same rate at the beginning of each subsequent spring season.

This unique blend provides your plants with the nutrients they need to thrive, as well as excellent drainage and aeration.

  • Use in pots, raised beds and container gardening. This blend is commonly used as a seed starter.

  • Our Expanded Shale is a premium organic product that can be used for loosening up heavy soils and for improving drainage, for increasing the well draining mineral content of soils.

    The most popular use of this product is for amending or incorporating into existing soils to improve the soil structure and drainage. This product is the best bet when the organic matter content of a soil is already high but the drainage still needs to be improved due to a high clay content in the existing soil. Also, this product is a great option when existing soil drainage needs to be improved with an amendment that will not shrink or decompose over time..
